Baking Baker's
This is one of our new favorite recipes...It's good ole country cooking which stem from our roots. I found this recipe on recipes.com and I promise you it will not disappoint. We recently got back from vacation in cold Colorado. The cold left me craving hearty winter foods. When I got home I started looking for a chili recipe and wanted to share it with you all today. I made a few modifications to the recipe so its a little different then the original but we both think its great.

What you will need....
1.5-2lbs of ground beef or turkey
1 large jar of tomato sauce
1 can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can of pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1/8 tsp of ground cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp of white sugar
1/2 tsp of dried oregano
1/2 tsp of ground black pepper
1tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
1/4 cup of chili powder

How to cook.... Place meat in a large pot and brown over medium heat, then drain. Then combine in large pot tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, onions, cayenne pepper, sugar, oregano, ground black pepper, salt, cumin, and chili powder. Bring pot to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer and let sit for 1 1/2 hours.  * You can also cook this recipe in a crock pot. You need to first brown the meat and drain. Then, transfer meat into the crock pot and add other ingredients. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. So another wonderful recipe you can throw together in the morning and enjoy when you arrive home from work.

We had a tasty dinner on Monday night. We added some fritos, cheese, and sour cream to our individual  helpings of chili. I also made some corn bread which was a great touch to this delicious winter meal. Hope you enjoy!
